We heard from one of our readers that 2000 Wrangler production is in full swing... I can confirm that 2000 TJ productions is in full swing. I ordered my 2000 Sport July 3rd, which went into production 8/2(?), and will be shipped 8/11. Hopefully to arrive in Florida by the 21st. This has been confirmed by the dealer, and DC customer service.
This certainly is good news for Wrangler enthusiasts - although we haven't had any definite sightings for the 2000 Cherokee or Grand Cherokee. In fact, DaimlerChrysler hasn't even announced what all the changes will be in the upcoming model year! One thing is for sure though - as soon as the 2000 changes are announced, you'll be able to read all about them here. 2000 Cherokee Info Another reader tipped us off wih some info about the 2000 Cherokee: The dealers have the information on the 2000 XJ, i have already ordered one. The changes are mostly minor, color deletions (can no longer get the Gun Metal) and one or two colors added. The letters on the tailgate (4.0L and JEEP) now are raised instead of flat stickers, as is the 4x4 on the side. The DiamlerChrysler customer service rep. i talked with says the Cherokees have been in production since 07/15/99 but the models with the 4.0l I6 and 5 speed gearbox are on production "Restriction" until 09/01/99, they are waiting for the new transmissions. The major change for 2000 is a new 5 speed transmission, it's a NV3550 according to the book the dealer had.
