Overall Jeep sales for January, 2003 dropped 9% from January, 2002

Chrysler Group reported U.S. sales of 129,222 units in January 2003, a 12 percent decline compared to January 2002, when sales totaled 146,399 units.

Despite the decline, the company posted sales gains among several key models from all three brands, and announced a new sales promotion that begins tomorrow.

Leading the way for the Jeep(R) brand was the Jeep Wrangler with 3,836 sales, up 19 percent compared to last year.

Dilts announced a new national sales event that starts February 4. Called "The Best Values in America," the program will emphasize the Chrysler Group's "Great Products," the "Great Protection" of the company's 7/70 powertrain warranty, and the "Great Deals" of applicable sales incentives. The campaign is open-ended and will be used across the Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge brands.

"It's a simple proposition: Great products, plus great protection, plus great deals equals the best values in America," said Dilts.
