What's the wheel size on my 1986 CJ7?

Hi there. Own a 1986 CJ7 Laredo. Looking to replace the back spare tire with one that matches the other four already on the jeep. I found a couple OEM wheels online (ranging in price from $80-$125). The two I found are different sizes, one if 15x8, the other is 15x7. My questions are: 1...

New Mass State Inspection trouble for CJ7s?

I currently have a 1983 CJ7 with a 2 1/2" rancho lift(minus 1 leaf) and 31" tires. It also has an AMC 360 in place of the inline 6. Does anyone know if the new inspection laws starting in October will prevent CJs like mine from passing? I am in the process of a restoration and wanted to make...

    Torque arm trouble

Does anybody have any experience building a bam bar type torque arm for a cj7 with a 14 bolt? I have the torque arm from M.O.R.E. and it is installed correctly but the shackle end has way to much horizontal movement and puts everything in a bind. (The more it articulates in either direction the...

    T4 or T5

I tried searching but wasn't able to come up with anything definitive on this. I have an 81 CJ5 with a fairly fresh 4.2 and a weak/suck SR4. I have another good SR4 that I can put in it but I don't want to go that route. I'm looking to swap in a T4 or T5 in it's place. Yes, I know, just put in a...

AMC 360 Trouble Starting After Sitting

Has an Edelbrock 8867 Carb on it. ...and by after sitting, I mean as little as a day. It'll crank and crank all day, but won't turn over. My "magic" trick is to use a little Vitamin E, starting fluid. Spray that in there and it'll start right up. I'm able to start it after several hours...

    CJ5 Transmission Trouble

My son and I are working on a '68 CJ5 with F134 engine and (from what I can tell via this website) a T90C manual 3 speed tranny. It appears to be stock except for the chrome air breather cover and the extra sheet metal on the floor pans. :D It's been garaged for 10+ years. It ran when it was...

Anyone else having trouble with thier Bestop?

I am frustrated with the fit of my Bestop soft top for my CJ5. The top fits so tight over the frame that I have to stretch it to zip up the side panels. It's like the frame is too big for the soft top. You can see from the above picture there is about a one inch gap above the side panel. I have...

    drive line trouble

I'm doing the YJ spring conversion using OME 2" lift. When I got the rear end put together I noticed that when the springs are fully extended the U joint on the transfercase binds up on the cap bolts. What is the fix for this. Is it a new drive shaft or drop the transfer case down an inch or so...

Any ideas on how to remove the two rear body mounts, I have sprayed them and all the bolt does is spin around. I would like to replace all the body mounts due to cracking. Do I have to cut an access panel out to get to the nut plate on the rear mounts? Thanks for any input

    Potential Trouble with Head Gasket

So... I pulled my oil filler cap and noticed a small amount of milky substance around the top of it. After that I looked at the dip stick and it's nothing but nice clean oil, and I also drained a small amount of oil from the plug and did not see any milky substance to it or any visible coolant...
