Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement

I believe the part is called an ignition lock cylinder. Has anyone replaced one on a CJ. My CJ doesn't need a key to start and I'd really like to be able to fix that. I can get the part at Orileys for $30 but I wasn't sure what was involved in the install.

swapping the cylinder is pretty easy- you will need a steering wheel puller and a lock ring depressor tool, the rest of the tools are basic stuff you should have laying around- a chiltons or factory service manual will really help you here- step by step instructions.

I have been wanting to purchase a service manual.

I can start the Jeep with out a Key, you think having a key cut would fix the problem? How can I get a key cut without having a key? Would a jeep dealership have a "mold" for the key? I remember I had a 99 camaro and lost the key and the dealership was able to have a key cut. Would this be the same concept? I have not changed the cylinder yet because the bolts to take the steering wheel off are stripped.

It would be a lot easier if I could go to Jeep with my vin and have a key cut...
