I recently purchased a 1980 CJ7 with 4.2 6 cyl. Standard transmission. It needs quite a bit of front end work. The part kits ask if the Jeep is narrow track or wide track. How do I find out which I have?

A 1980 Dana 30 front end should have a narrow track at 53" wheel mount to wheel mount.........from 1982-86 the Dana 30 was a wide track at 56"

The CJ7 must have been different than the CJ5 because they had the narrow track until the end in '83

You know I think anything is possible on these CJ's from model year to year.

The most widely published info is:

"the front Dana 30's were all "narrow track" until the 1982 model year.
Starting in 1982 the CJ7's and CJ8's went to a "wide track" Dana 30."

The only real way to find out what you have is to pull off the wheels and measure.

Yup, no CJ5 ever came from the factory with wide track axles.
