The stud that holds the valve stack sheared off when the tire dropped off the rock, when he backed up it pulled apart.
Yes, a limit strap would have helped.

Look at the top of the shock at the 12-13 sec mark on the video you can see where the stud sheared off.

What was the fluid? Looked like milk.

Shock oil, I've seen blue, green, gold, and red, but never white. Looks to clean to be contaminated. Next time I see him I'll ask.
