20221016_163821.jpgSo.. it's obvious by mostly water and mud with a little bit of oil in my front axle, the many chipped ring teeth.. along with the leaking pinion and horizontal side to side movement of the internals that the previous owner did little or nothing in the way of upkeep or preventative care.
Also obvious that I will be back inside it in the near future. But for now she's cleaned, now vented (hose and vent to come) and even has the (unnecessary but free) grad 8 bolts and washers upgrade on both covers. Heck, I might just swap in a newer 30 or upgrade to a matching 44.
But for a Sunday in the garage I learned what was lurking under those covers and took care of what I could for now.

Ps.. I also got a chance to see and verify the locker was in the rear as it was told to me at the time of purchasing this Jeep I named "Effy".

I don't know.. maybe.. I have the paint BUT I've been considering doing this as a street legal, mechanically sound, safe and functioning ROADsteration versus full-on restoration... you know in the same thread as patina or resto-rods.
Of course when I was younger it was called not having money so ya made due, fix what's broken but otherwise just keeping it running. lol
Anyways.. It is a cheaper and easier method of restoring (roadstoring).. Just not all neat and clean .. which may bug me after a while (more likely bug my wife) and I'll end up throwing the whole idea out.

i think most of my jeep is black krylon, it made it look alot better than the 4 different colors it was before

I'm not against it and as I said I'll likely paint it gloss black. I did find this particular paint sold at ace hardware that comes in matte, satin or gloss of various colors of course black being one of them.

Direct to metal, no primer required. It has a nice fan pattern spray nozzle and dries fast.

I've also been experimenting with this stuff from HF. Before actual paint even over rust. I've used it as a temporary coating on parts that are outdoors on my trailer that I don't have time to paint properly right away.

I like this one for things with small imperfections like bumpers and tunnel covers or diff covers. B1DAB078-0FE2-4EDB-B46F-2BDA5CADB91F.png
