I was in the process of trying to clean up the wiring some and and if I read my multiple wiring diagrams right the wire that was supposed to be connected to it was hooked up to the alternator. And nothing was hooked up to the sender. Is the wire just supposed to be hooked up with a ring terminal?

The OEM location on the block is best.

So slightly confused, found my title and it shows my jeep as a 77 but when I decode the vin it comes back as 78. It seems that 77 to 78 was a change over year, how do I tell which on I should go off of as far as service manual etc?
