new cj 5 owner

I just bought a 78 Levi Edition. Its not in the best shape but cant wait to start rebuilding it with my husbands help(when its needed) . i have no idea where to start does anyone have any tips. Should i go the route of rebuilding the orig. parts or just buying new after market?

I wouldn't stray too far off the original look of the CJ. It will be easier to sell.
