I have a 1985 Jeep CJ 7 and am looking to drop in a Chevy 350. I can get this motor and its transmission (probably a SM465) quite cheap. I am wondering how easy or hard it will be to perform this swap. I have read into this alot and the owner of the garage I work at part time deals with Chevys almost exclusively. I am ready to drop it in and make it my daily driver but i want to make sure I have everything set up from gearing, to cooling.

If anyone has does this swap before, or has knowledge on the subject I would love to hear about it. I am also looking to bump up the height to maybe a 2 inch lift. Any info will be great.

Thanks, Matt

we put a 350 in a 71 last year and that jeep had a really short front end so the clutch fan would not fit on the water pump so we cut the metal shroud down and put an electric fan in between the grille and the radiator. NExt the motor mounts are different so if you put the mounts onto the moter and lower it in and mark out where they need to go with chalk to pull it back out and either weld and or bolt the mounts on this is where you need to be precise so take your time and youll do fine. if you didnt think about removing the fenders and grille you should it definitely makes the process easier and its just 8-16 bolts.
